I know there is a “respect the turkey” movement out there. I can understand where people are coming from, but I can’t help it. Christmas music makes me happy. It makes all things right in my world. I get goosebumps and my heart grows three sizes.
Today, I had literally 24 loads of laundry to do. I freaking hate laundry. I especially hate the folding and putting away of the laundry. Thus, I have wrinkled loads of clean laundry scattered about. When all the drawers are empty and closets have hangers without clothes on them, there is a problem. When all that’s left to wear are shirts and jeans that are a crumpled mess, the problem is a little more complicated. When I am tempted to put my fully potty trained (almost) 3 year old in a pull up, something needs to be done stat.
That something in this scenario was the laundry, in case you were wondering.
Knowing that I couldn’t put off the laundry any longer, I turned to my iPod for some musical motivation. Without thinking, I set it to Christmas music. I kid you not, I managed to get over half of the laundry cleaned, folded, and put away in a mere 3 hour span just by belting out “Let it be Christmas,” “I’ll be home for Christmas,” “All I Want for Christmas is You,” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”
At least I waited until after Halloween this year. And of course, I won’t be putting up my Christmas decorations until after Thanksgiving. I’m not one of those people.
On which side of the “respect the turkey” movement do you fall?
Life happens when you do something that makes you happy- even if others roll their eyes at you!
