We spent the weekend at our family lakehouse and enjoyed nearly four days of beauty. We love being at the lake year round because each season has something unique to bring to the table. Fall is certainly no exception. In fact, I might even argue that fall at the lake is even better than the summer in some ways.

Why? Because the weather is still somewhat warm, but we obviously can’t go swimming or out on the boat. This forces us to really get out and explore the beautiful world around us.

This weekend, the weather was absolutely gorgeous. There was just a hint of a chill in the air, but it was warm enough for us to be outside as a family.

We took long walks around our neighborhood.

We found leaves as big as our heads.

We sat outside on the deck for over three hours one afternoon. The kids played. I read. My husband marveled at the land and water before him.

We threw rocks in the water. We picked up sticks. We slowed down long enough to take in the world around us.

We drove around down country roads. We explored. We found places on land that we’ve always been curious about from the water.

We watched movies with the doors (and windows) open.

We watched the bright moon flitter on the water.

We relaxed. We laughed. We snuggled. We danced around the house.

Soon enough, the trees will be empty. The crisp air will be frigid. The world will be barren. While there is most definitely beauty in winter, this weekend we gave all our love to fall. And to each other.

Take a look at the vibrant colors all around. Turn off the T.V. Sit outside on your porch. Go for a walk. Breathe in the fall air.
